It's a lot easier to just throw the cover on top of it when I'm done and deal with things during daylight than it is to take everything down in the middle of the night.
One of the most frustrating things about astrophotography is setting the equipment up. You have to organize things and align things and connect things and test things and by the time you're done with all that, there could be very little time left to actually take pictures. Plus, if you're like me and live someplace where the skies can change at a moment's notice, then sometimes you have to take it all down quickly when the weather changes for the worse. For me, that usually meant throwing everything into the car in a tangle of metal, glass, and electronics to avoid getting it all rained on.
Anything I can do to make my life easier for getting the equipment ready (or take it down) is a plus. Which is why I really like my Telegizmo 365 telescope cover.
Just like it sounds, it's a telescope cover that can be left out 365 days a year in the wind, rain, snow, sun - just about anything. Nothing bothers it and it has long-lasting powerful UV protection. Honestly, I left my telescope and tripod outside under one of these covers for two years and never had a problem other than the occasional spider.
I'm not saying that you should do what I did, but if you do, then you'll want one of these just like I do. Granted, I have now moved on to a SkyShed POD, which is even better but I still use my Telegizmos cover for when I bring a time machine out for visual use instead of for astrophotography. It's a lot easier to just throw the cover on top of it when I'm done and deal with things during daylight than it is to take everything down in the middle of the night.
Of course, now that I have the SkyShed POD the TG 365 cover is nice and warm inside its own box, but when I do visual work (instead of astrophotography work) I still use it, because I generally leave a telescope outside for a few days once I have it properly aligned.
